LGIS appointed to the Fluoridation Professional Services Panel

 

   In 2008, the State Government enacted the Water Fluoridation Act 2008 and Water Fluoridation Regulation 2008 to provide 95% of the State’s population with access to fluoridated drinking water.
 
To meet the State’s target, most councils will be required to plan, design, implement and operate fluoridation plant. To support councils in delivering fluoridated water supplies, LGIS has joined forces with SunWater and Hunter Water Australia to form the Fluoridation Consortium, which offers a range of technical, advisory and project support services.
 
The State Government’s Infrastructure Project Management Group (IPMG) has recognised the Fluoridation Consortium's chemical dosing and water treatment plant experience, its fluoridation experience, and its activities in reticulated drinking water modelling by appointing it to the State Government's Professional Services Panel. Now, councils can appoint the Fluoridation Consortium directly through this panel arrangement.

The consortium has operational capacity in all areas of the State, and can assist with one, some or all aspects of a fluoridation project including: 

  • cost planning
  • engineering, and
  • design support.
