Central Queensland Small Communities Water Study

In late 2007, the Central Queensland Local Government Association (CQLGA) engaged LGIS as part of the Central Queensland Small Communities Water Study. The Study assessed a range of sustainable demand and supply alternatives for meeting the water needs of 45 small communities across nine regional councils in Central Queensland.

In addition to providing a range of project management and financial and procurement advisory services, LGIS also worked with Parsons Brinckerhoff to examine technical and engineering issues in regional water supply planning, non-traditional water supplies and demand management.

Overall, the Study:

  • identified future water needs and associated issues and constraints at a local and regional level
  • evaluated potential infrastructure projects, augmentation works and operational improvements, and
  • outlined a $50 million roadmap for implementation.
